My daughter's S5 internal storage is nearly full, less than .5GB remaining. She has an SD card for photos & music. I've connected the phone to my computer and checked the properties of all folders in the phone storage, and I don't find any that come close to causing the internal storage to be full. I've also cleared the partition cache, and that doesn't help. Other than doing a factory reset, does anyone have any other ideas for me to try? Phone is running 5.0, not rooted.

Ensure all applications that can be installed on the SD card are indeed there.

Clear the Cached Data periodically (Settings>Storage>Cached Data)

I have used an app called SD Maid (with "Biggest" function) to help identify storage/space issues. I had an app that was taking way more space than listed under application manager and when I cleared the data (not just the cache) my space issue was resolved. Worth a try for you maybe. In my case, the app was iHeart and was taking over 1.5gb of space even though only listed as 44Mb. SD Maid helped me find this.

Clear the cache. Install apps on SD card, disable and remove non-necessary apps. Buy an S6, N4 or N5.

In the phone settings, scroll down to "storage". The top portion shows the storage used and available of the phone, the second part shows the SD Card.

You will see "Total Space", "System Memory", "Used Space", "Cached Data", "Miscellaneous Files" and "Available Space".

What does it show under "Cached Data"? Sometime I've seen this grow out of control especially by Google Photos, Spotify (or other streaming services), etc. Tap on "Cached Data" and it will clear it.
