Took about 19 minutes to install. SD Card has not been initialized yet...Apps installed on SD card are showing as generic SD icons...hope that fixes itself...

Android Version - 5.0 - DAMNIT!
Android Security Patch level: 2015-11-01

Shut down. Wiped cache - SD Card apps are "not installed"

At this point - I would not install this update folks. I'd love to share a screen shot..but alas, I can't upload to the cloud!! My google photos app is gone.

If I go to Applications>SD Card - all I see are "com.app" files

Way to go VW!!! You suck.

Just did the update, seem to go okay, have not wiped the cache (yet) phone got warm, drained the battery, otherwise okay. SD card seems to be working, I only have pictures and music on mine. Also my company has special encryption on the phone (health care) but as I said it seems to be working well

24 hours...and all seems to be fine, I just freaked out when none of my SD apps were loading..

Security Update looks fine, wish they would have at least pushed 5.1.1 though...

Here I was getting excited thinking it was Marshmallow which my other half has had on his Nexus since October. :-\

At this rate, we'll be lucky if we see Marshmallow by March 2016...who knows what new OS will be out at that time.

I'm pretty much done with my Verizon S5...I'm moving on to a Moto X Pure 32GB after the holidays.

Just a security patch? For stagefright they pushed out the patch a couple of months ago right? Does anybody know if this breaks root?

Nevermind it does patch root. Downloading the rooted stock rom now!

Unlike stock Samsung phones, Verizon do not offer firmware updates usually... just patches to very, very, old firmware.

Take a look at their releases for Android 5.0, Lollipop this year...

Firmware OA8 Build date 27 JAN 15 Changelist #3846539 UPDATE

Firmware OC4 Build date 18 MAR 15 Changelist #3846539 PATCH

Firmware OD5 Build date 29 APR 15 Changelist #4782027 UPDATE

Firmware OE1 Build date 18 JUN 15 Changelist #4782027 PATCH

Firmware OG5 Build date 31 JUL 15 Changelist #4782027 PATCH

Firmware OK3 Build date 17 NOV 15 Changelist #4782027 PATCH

So, as you can see, the last actual firmware update from Verizon was back in April and since it takes them around 2 months to add their bloatware and manipulate and alter the stock Samsung firmware that it is based on... then the actual Samsung build will be from late February or early March, 2015 that you are now running on.

Compare this to, say, my own unbranded stock Samsung phone which has received 7 UPDATES and 1 PATCH and is currently on changelist #6364590
