Does the usb cable make a difference when charging Galaxy S5? What is the best cable to byy?

Unless the cable is longer than the standard 3 feet (Actually it's usually 1 meter), the cheapest cable and the most expensive cable will charge the phone exactly the same. (The longer the cable is, the thicker the wires have to be.) So don't waste money on a "super cable" - it won't make any difference. (I have original Samsung USB 3.0 cables and cheap 99 cent Chinese cables, and they charge my Note 3 in the same amount of time.)

Just don't get the really thin dollar store or drug chain cables. The wires are too thin, and you'll notice that they get warm - which means that a significant amount of power is going into heating the cable and not charging the phone, so charging will take longer. (It won't hurt anything, it'll just take longer.)
