Just open your contacts, click on the person you want to add another number for, and then it will show you a drop down menu to choose work, home etc..then you can put in a new number. you can add in email addresses, street adresses, birthdays, notes, etc. also

Yes you can by tapping the contact you want to add more number, Press the pencil icon on the upper right screen. Then press the + icon on phone section.

If you have access to a PC, you can also do this by going to contacts.google.com

If you aren't storing your contacts with Google, you should. If your phone gets destroyed or lost then you'll be one of "those people" that post all over the place "got a new phone, text me your number" or "I lost my phone, text me your contact information".

When you're editing the data, there should be a little + and - to the right of the box into which you enter the number. + will add a new number box, - will delete the one it's next to.
