    I don't choose to continuously download all my emails to my phone's Email app but rather prefer just accessing my emails by logging onto Hotmail via my phone.
    Can't get attachments to open while using my phone to do this though...they open fine when using my computer. Pain in the neck ..anyone have a solution other than having all my emails downloaded to my Email app?

    Welcome to Android Central! Rather than use the POP3 server (which is what I assume you're using, since POP3 works by having the phone physically download the emails), I suggest having your Email app use the IMAP server. Read about the difference here: IMAP vs POP3. Here are the Hotmail IMAP settings: Configure Outlook with an Outlook.com (Hotmail), Gmail, Office 365, Yahoo, AOL or iCloud account - HowTo-Outlook
