Why did my Samsung S5 Fingerprint Scanner disappear all of a sudden.

Today , I was listening to some music on my Samsung S5 , but then suddenly , the music stopped and the screen turned blank for a second. When the screen returned back to its original state , the fingerprint scanner was gone and a notification stating that it went missing appeared. I've also forgotten my backup password so I have no other ways to unlock my phone so I was wondering if there were any other ways to retrieve back my fingerprint scanner/backup password? (Android Device Manager does not work for me as it only resets alternative password and not backup password)

Try a factory reset. I can't think of any reason why it would have disappeared like that.

Is it possible to retrieve the fingerprint scanner/backup password without a factory reset?Cuz I would like to keep all my other data in my phone

Also, if you fail the unlock enough times, does it prompt you for your Google account information?
