So I'm helping a friend try and update their phone, they heard about the Android Marshmallow update being released by Samsung. Turns out they wasn't even on Android 5, asked the carrier (Viaero Wireless) about it and apparently they only support up to Android 4.4.2 on the Galaxy S5. I don't have a problem with flashing a new stock ROM onto the phone with Odin myself but I was a bit confused by the version information from the phone, it is as follows:

    AP: G900MUBU1AUMS
    CP: G900TUVU1ANCH
    CSC: G900MUUB1ANCE

I'm a bit confused by the CP part as it indicates the G900T, while the other two specify the model as G900M? It was also my understanding that the G900M was for South America, this phone was bought in the US straight from the carrier. I don't have an issue with trying to flash it with a new stock ROM from Samsung but I'm not really sure what to look for with the differing model names.

The carrier can order the phone with any firmware that makes it work, but just flashing some G900 ROM probably not only won't work, it'll soft-brick the phone.

Could you install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ free from the Play Store and post the, "Product code", that it shows.

That shows the phone as having an AT&T Product Code originally.

Since the Latin America, G900M, and the T-Mobile (USA), G900T, and the AT&T model, G900A, are all interchangeable and the firmware, "Version", details are a mish-mash of all three... I would suggest flashing a stock, unbranded firmware for the Latin America model. The reasoning behind this is that the T-Mobile (USA) firmware will be carrier branded and the latest AT&T firmware is not released by them. So, I suggest the Argentina, stock unbranded, Samsung firmware for Android 6.0.1, Marshmallow...

Thanks, I should note though that the about device settings show it as a G900T though, if that has any bearing?

Edit: Re-reading the message I would think not. If I reflashed it with a new stock firmware would it be possible to get OTA updates in the future?

No. Any future updates would have to be downloaded and flashed via Odin.
