Samsung Galaxy S5 System Update taking forever

Hi all,

In the early hours of this morning my S5 system update began and has been going ever since (for the last 10 hours). I am not able to use the functions on my phone or do anything. I do not remember the system update every taking this long and there is no percentage complete to indicate how much longer it is going to take.

I am wanting to know if there is any way to speed it up (WiFi connection is fast and Mobile data is also turned on) or stop it completely so that I can use my phone again.

Please help.

Welcome to Android Central! That's far too long, so I suspect something went wrong with the update process. What screen is it stuck at?

Problem solved. There was malware on my phone so it wasn't a system update at all. Factory reset seems to have removed it. Thanks for your help though!

Yikes! Glad you figured it out. Keep an eye on the phone's performance, since malware can be installed to the root (which doesn't get removed with a factory reset--you'd have to reinstall the firmware).
