Any way to disable the annoying proximity sensor on samsung galaxy s5?

Trying to find a way to disable the proximity sensor during calls. The sensor makes the phone quite unusable for me. The only thing I found when searching google, is that some people said it should be in call options. Nothing related to the sensor exists in my galaxy s5 call settings or in any other settings on this device.

Why does the proximity sensor make the phone unusable? It should turn off the screen when the phone approaches your ear and turn it back on when it is an inch or so away.

If it is not working correctly, check to see if you have a screen protector covering the proximity sensor. Even if "fully transparent" (to visible wavelengths), screen protectors will interfere with proximity sensor function.
