I just bought a new (not refurbished), unlocked Samsung Galaxy S5 from a vendor from Hong Kong through Ebay (here's the product description: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S-5-SM-G900F-S5-BLACK-UNLOCKED-Latest-Model-16GB-4G-LTE-/281536186093? ). The phone looked alright and the seal on the box was intact.

Now, I have discovered that this phone is rooted. I have verified this in two ways -- (a) running the Root Checker Basic app, and (b) checking that the su command in the terminal returns the # prompt. I tried looking through the list of all installed apps to locate one that looks like SU or SuperUser, but I couldn't locate any (but then again, I wouldn't recognize it if it had an innocuous name).

Is there a security risk in using this phone? Is there a way to unroot the device? I don't mind using an unrooted phone, but I would have preferred to do it myself to be sure that there aren't any malicious softwares preloaded on to it.
