    Hey peeps!

If you are having problems with a very laggy, glitchy Galaxy S5 and no other solution seems to be working, you can perform a hard reset in order to fix these issues. This should really be done at a last resort because it erases all of the data on your phone and reverts it back to the way it was when you first got it. A factory and hard reset basically are the same thing but a factory reset, which we explain in another thread (factory reset Galaxy S5) uses the software features of the phone, while a hard reset uses the hardware buttons.

Before doing anything though, you want to make sure that you have backed up all of your data beforehand, which you can do right in the settings under factory reset, or you can use an app like Carbon for Android, Super Backup, App Backup & restore, Titanium Media Sync, G Cloud Backup. You can also backup your data to an external drive: you can backup your Android data as a copy of the SD card that you keep on your PC by connect your Android to your PC via the USB cable for example.

Getting to the steps for the master reset using the hardware buttons, here is the button combination that needs to be done:

Power off the smartphone Press and hold volume up, home and power buttons.
When phone vibrates once, let go of the power button, but keep pressing the two other.
The Android System Recovery screen will appear, at which point you will release all the hardware buttons.
Press Volume down to navigate to wipe data/ factory reset. Press Power button to select.
Navigate with volume down button to ''yes delete user data'' Press power again to confirm.
After the device has been reset, which can take a few seconds, reboot system now should be highlited and you simply press power to reboot your device.

Carbon for Android is now called Helium (and has been for some time). There's no "Carbon for Android" in the Play store any longer.
