Sudden swipe to unlock screen

My husband and I have the exact same phones... his recently got a new feature of a swipe to unlock screen, I've been searching to see how to retrieve it but for some reason I can find it to save my life.

I have attached some screenshots below to show you what exactly it is I'm seeing on his screen.

Hi Tia, welcome to the forums!
Usually you get the swipe to unlock if you don't have any security lock like fingerprint, or pattern.

No that's not it. It started with my phone right after Google Assistant started on my phone. I thought it was a screen saver but that's not active. I do have pattern lock on so that's not it. I can not find where to shut this off.
