how to size photo for background

just got my Edge after handing back my HTC One M7 on Verizon's edge program. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I though when you selected a photo for a background on the HTC, you were given crop outlines to size and orient it properly. Nothing like that on the S6 so I have a wide picture with people on the sides missing. Any guidance?

thanks. but will this mean I have to use nova going forward or just to edit the photo within nova and then use it as a regular background?

you would have to use Nova going forward. but everyone loves Nova.
