Updates on AT&T

Got a great deal on a new S6 Edge. Set it up today on AT&T. I got one small update out of the box and my advancing the date to tomorrow I got one more. Advanced again to the 6th and got a third small one bringing security level to January 1, 2017. I'm wondering how more updates before I get to Nougat? You would think the updates would be cumulative, but it looks like AT&T is going to make me install every sequential update before it serves up Nougat.

Nevermind, I figured it out. Advanced one more day and got Nougat and from there the 24 hour rule no longer applies so I'm all up to date. Loving this phone so far.
