How long does the battery last? Not everyone upgrades to a new phone every year. By the s6 battery being non-removable it assures Samsung that you will upgrade more frequently. Dead or faulty non-removable battery(new phone). Dead, faulty removable battery(new battery)...

on a charge? nobody has comprehensive test yet, but I would be surprised if its not as good as s5. GSMArena has excellent battery test, check there when the phone is released.

aging over time? I heard sammi made effort to reduce heat in the system, which will help slow down aging somewhat. No way to tell until somebody actually do a year-long test (like I did for my Note 3 http://forums.androidcentral.com/sam...reference.html ).

when battery dies, or when it holds significantly less charge, sammy suggests you send the phone to service center for battery replacement, probably cost $70-100. You can DIY, but it would not be easy and run some risks.

With the improvements on the processor and other stuff, the S6 battery should surpass the S5 battery. Longevity is another matter and that won't be known for some time. The tear down videos will come soon enough to show how to replace the battery when the need comes.

    Agree, much to-do about nothing.

S6 battery, when plugged into an S5 will have shorter discharge time. I think Samsung achieves the S6 battery life by controlling the power consumption of the CPU (power optimization of exynos processor). Newer RAM type and storage type could also be contributing to less power consumption. They could have also improved the power consumption of the OLED panel.

There are obviously things in s6 that improves battery life (on a charge), there are also things in it that decreases the battery life.

Its most likely gonna be better than s5, just because pushing it with worse battery would be unfathomable. The real question is how much better? Thats the information we can't get until test is done.

We'll know when the production unit test results leak out. Field testing videos should pop up soon.

The total capacity being lower doesn't necessarily mean worse battery. They could IMPROVE the battery itself in order to have more efficient charging. Studying battery can be both confusing and frustrating at times. Electrochemistry is a hard subject.

true, everything could happen, its useless guessing right now, we should really just sit back and wait for the test.

I agree. It would "appear" that all improvements seem to indicate that the internal battery is sufficient. We should react only when we have real results and then we vote with our wallets instead of posting incessant rants. Purchase it or pass in favor of the GS7.
