I spoke with two reps at two different BB stores; both confirmed that BB will match Verizon's retail price. I was going to do AT&T Next but I think I am going to buy retail price if BB matches Verizon's retail price as the reps said.

I do not believe AT&T's Next program is a good deal. I am going to pay retail for my S6, I think it's about 680.00, ouch. But I am about a year away from any discounted upgrade. So oh well, at least I will be that much closer to being contract-free.

I'm guessing that AT&T's Next program is different than Verizon's EDGE program because the Verizon Edge plan is actually cheaper or about the same as paying retail and you get to space it out over 24 months.

I'll be paying about $950 after taxes for the 128gb S6. I just can't wrap my mind around leading a phone. I know most won't agree but that's just my perspective

I think you ment leasing a phone.
And I agree, I just never will understand it.

Thankfully, with AT&T you don't have to do that even with the NEXT program. Just pay off your device and it's yours and you can even upgrade early if you're phone is paid off fully. With intrest free finance, and no down payment, it's easy getting a new phone with AT&T.

With Verizon, if you buy outright, they give you a $25 a month discount when you have a data plan of 6gb or more.
    So, 25x 24 months = $600 savings.
If you buy on Contract for $299, you lose $25 per month by paying the full $40 per month Smartphone Access.
    $299 + $600 = $900.
So, in many cases you'll save by buying outright.

Exactly. It's not leasing, it's 0% financing. It's only leasing if you don't pay off the phone fully and want to trade it in. If you want to pay it off fully (which you are doing anyways if you pay for it up front) then you keep the phone. Why spend $1,000 now when you can spread the $1000 out over 24 months? This is what the Verizon Edge plan is.

I'll be buying the S7 this time next year so I would have to pay it off (the same 950 after taxes) or give it back at that time. I'll just pay for it now

Same here. Purchased through Amazon, wishing I had gone outright through AT&T, but I wanted 30 days instead of 14 to decide on keeping it.

I called a best buy today and they had said they can only match the carriers price for the carrier you are buying for because they are each different models. They are letting you buy a ATT S6 for the Verizon price? I have sprint and was hoping i would get it at the Verizon price.

Well, I haven't bought one because the gold color is not yet available. But I did mention that I am with att and if they would match Verizon's retail price and both reps said yes.

I normally buy my phones full retail unlocked but since we can't get the non branded versions and stuck with the crappy carrier versions I decided to go the eip route with T-Mobile.

I have to laugh everytime I see or hear someone tell me they've never paid full retail price for a phone.

Guess what you've probably always paid 20 to 30% over retail price for the phone because your monthly rate always included the subsidy that you couldn't actually see until recently.

so with Verizon - it's at least $25/mo x 24 months or $600. Add to that a typical $200 initial payment and you get a $800 conservative estimate of phone pricing. I say conservative because if it were a true open competition/auction - verizon, at&t and others would probably be selling your data services for half what your paying now.

In anycase, your payinig Full Retail Price whether is says so or not!
