Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge - When only factor is Gear VR performance

Ignore cost differences, how you think it feels in your hand, or any other factors like that.

For the purposes of this question I am only interested in how each does or will perform when using it with the Gear VR.

Does the "edges" of the edge enhance or take away from the Gear VR, experience?

Has anyone actually tried both and if so did you notice any differences between the two.

The gear VR uses two cut circles against the screen to create a 3D effect. I haven't actually tried it, but because of the design, I can pretty confidently guess that the edge will have absolutely no effect on the performance on the Gear VR.
