Well i don't know if this is a widely known thing but i JUST found out about it yesterday. Since i can't use my SD card from my M8 on my (soon-to-have) S6 i was getting rid of all my music and pictures from my SD card. Well my buddy mentioned Google Music Manager. I had no idea this thing existed!!!

It allows you to upload up to 50,000 of your own songs to the cloud and you can then access those songs through your Play Music app. Also during the upload process if Google can match songs it will use their version of the song.

This just saved me 5.5GB of space on my phone when i get it by not having to transfer music over. I don't know about the rest of you but i find this amazing and wish i had learned about this earlier.

I hope this helps at least one other person!!

Yep, I believe it's pretty widely known. I've been using it for years. And yeah, you manage it on the computer.

You can manage it anywhere, any web browser, or any Google Play Music program.

I thought they only allowed 20000 songs? Did they up it to 50k now?

Do you need a internet connection to listen to your songs from Google music manager? I listen to most of my music on my commute underground.

You can "pin" songs/albums to your device using Google Music. It simply downloads it to your device. I think that you can also listen to music via an Internet connection, and it'll cache onto your device; that way, regardless of connection, it's available on the device. At least that's how it was on my S4.

You can cache playlists locally to your phone ahead of time so you have something to listen to while disconnected. But to access the actual cloud stuff you do need Internet.

I always keep my top 4-5 playlists cached locally. Any changes I make to them from somewhere else auto-push to the phone too, so if you add a couple of songs to one using the web interface, your phone will cache them. .

Yes, that is the problem. Also if you are listening on mobile data connection and have limited data. That's why I prefer to have my music stored on the phone. Lots of times you don't have a connection and still want to listen to music. On a plane for example. Or last year when I was in Europe and didn't have a mobile data plan.
