It didn't. The backup password didn't work either. I was effectively locked out of my phone. I took it to ATT and they wanted to send me to their "Device Support Center" which is quite a distance away. I finally decided to take it to the nearby Best Buy kiosk.
He was able to get me in using Google, but it was for a very short time. This phone just didn't want to recognize any of the fingerprints or passwords that I had set up. We finally decided to do a factory reset. He said it was either that or spend some time on the phone with Google. Factory reset seemed to be the least offensive alternative. Thank goodness for the the BB kiosk.
I hope this "locking me out" is not going to be a thing.
