I have a 2 year old Galaxy S4 that I'm considering upgrading. I've seen the battery complaint threads but I wonder how others who have upgraded from the S4 find that it compares to their old phone?

Definitly noticeably better than the S4. I managed with the S4, sometimes I had to charge to get me through the day, sometimes not. I'm a moderate user, no gaming. I easily make it through a day now and wireless and quick charging are awesome. I see no battery issues in my future. Love, love the upgrade!

I have a S4 now (since it first came out) and plan on getting the S6 Edge in four days. I have two spare batteries for the S4. Usually start the day at 70% life and end up swapping batteries out halfway through the day. Sundays are the only days I really use all three batteries. I already plan on having multiple fast chargers, a wireless charger, and an external battery for the S6 Edge. Was wondering if I should be alright with this trade out for battery life?

I normally never say this, but if you honestly are switching out batterys as much as up to 3 a day, then don't get the S6. Wait to see if the note 5 has a removable battery or get the S6 active if you are on AT&T. Otherwise you'll be on a charger 2 to 3 times per day and may feel disappointed...

And I thought I was a power user, but 8 to 12 hours of use or SoT with the amount of battery swaps you are describing is well beyond even what I do.

If your use is that heavy, I would still get the GS6E and plan to use the PowerBank or rapid charger toward late afternoon. There are also some unknowns like his carrier and device setup.

There are several threads on how to improve your battery. Follow these and you won't have any problem lasting the full day on one charge. It is annoying that tinkering with the battery is a necessity, but don't let that stop you from getting the S6 - apart from the battery it's the best phone I've had.

Up until the last 3-4 months of me having my s4 the battery life was great! The s6 battery life is good but doesn't seem to be as good as my s4's battery life was when I first got it. I've also noticed that the WiFi is 10x better on my old s4.

I am not a heavy user. I plug my phone in every night and by 3 the next day I have to plug it back in. Not happy.i don't care if it charges quickly. I don't want to have to have a portable battery charger with me all the time. I am not a fan of iPhones, which is why I got the s6; however, my friend bought an iPhone 6 plus and hers lasts all day and she is a very heavy user.

I would say the s6 has a better battery life.. I'm on the net alot at work and by the end of the day the s4 would be down to 10-15% whilst I have around 30% on the s6.
Both were on the ee uk network with wifi and Bluetooth off

M attune is just my phone? Also, I downloaded Samsung Vitamins power the recommendation of the guy at ATT because within the first 3 hours after getting it, my phone froze up twice, and I hadn't downloaded a thing. I brought it back he checked the RAM and it was at 89%.. so he suggested this Vitamins thing to clean up my RAM. I have to do this several times a day or its right back up to 83-89%. What would cause this. And please understand that this has been going on since I first took it out of the box.

I note your post several months old, so by now you probably realize the S6 battery life is less than great.

I made same move and have somewhat of a solution to helping.

First keep apps closed by clicking bottom left button and "Clear" apps though out the day.
Secondly the wireless charge pad is awesome. 25.00 on ebay
One in your office and one at home will help tremendously

I disagree about closing all apps - should not have to do that. Figure out which are problematic and address those alone. I do agree on the wireless chargers - I have several and I top off my charge periodically through the day. I never use the cabled chargers since my S4 jack started flaking out after four months, and from then on have only done wireless. Lastly, I urge folks to avoid using rapid charging. The heat produced by rapid charging has been known to destroy the accelerometer chip, and possibly other components.

At the very least, apps that rely on location or stream data via ads or other functions. Especially if you are in a poor signal area.

I got the S6 and upgraded from the S4. I'm appalled at the battery life. What does everyone think of the note 5 battery life?
