location frequently turned on.
galaxy s6 system ui turns on location often. I catch it about once every 2 days while on my phone. I long press the searching for gps and it shows "lollipop system UI". I'm guessing that is what is turning on the gps for a few seconds(~10s) every so often. I was wondering if there is a setting so it doesn't do that, because I think it's unnecessary.

Do you have a weather widget on the home screen?

Yea, it's set to my city not my current location

Same thing here but without a home screen widget.

My S6 does it every single time the screen come on for about 6 to 10 seconds, no seeming effect on my battery life though. Short of turn location services off completely the system is going to ping the GPS whenever it wants.
You can disable sync for some Google stuff or turn off some of the location settings with Google Now and the android device manager but out and out turning off location services is, I believe, the only way to full stop the system UI from pining the GPS at some points.
