Crazy data usage

As an experiment I turned off my wifi this morning just to see what it would do for battery life. I then went in to check my data usage even though I have barely use the phone at all and I'm seeing this crazy info. I haven't even opened Spotify today. should I be turning off background data usage for these apps?

Doesn't look like you're on Lollipop or else your 4G would still be showing. Hard to believe you wouldn't be, being on an s6. What's your provider? There have been many topics with the Lollipop update showing when you're on wifi that the 4g icon still shows, which is the case for me on Verizon using the Note 4. I'm still not confident that when my wifi is on that 4g is completely turned off. Previous to Lollipop the 4g icon would dim while on wifi. I've seen it first hand that when my wifi is on the 4g icon arrows flashing upload/download. The only reason why I'm not terribly concerned is because I'm still on unlimited data but for those that are on limited plans I would be very suspect on this.

I took the screen shots after I turned wifi back on. The 4Glte icon seems to go away when wifi is on and in range,

I am on at&t and of course have lollipop as it's an s6.
