I forgot about this trick.
I used it in the past to force to 4g.
Or force to 3g for better battery life.
Might be worth checking out. If you find yourself close to running out of juice and want to extend the battery a little more until you can get back to a power source.

I found my battery life drained like there was no tomorrow on 3g. I only get decent battery life when I force my phone to 4g coverage

At my work, I usually on have 3g and my battery drains quick. When I'm home on 4g, my battery lasts longer.

It took me forever to discover this was the cause of my battery drain. It still doesn't make sense to me. I would have thought that 3g would have drained slower turn 4g as it goes through less data

When it was draining on 3G, was it forced to 3G only? If it was still 3G/4G, then the battery drain might have been due to the radio constantly searching for 4G.

Yes it was forced to 3g only. I had it on the second option and the battery drained like there was no tomorrow
