I have not dropped my phone in the 5 days I have owned it. In fact it hasn't left the house as we are getting construction done on the house. I noticed a crack across the back side of the phone. Thoughts on what Verizon or Samsung will do about it.

Warranty claim? This might be an option since they would have no way to tell whether it's a defect. You could try in the store. Call carrier support.

Walk it in to the store, and try to get a new one. You might be in a bind if they can spot any indication of a drop, or pressure induced crack (something heavy smashing it or whatever). Try to do it sooner rather than later though. I doubt Samsung would do anything, but with only a few days out, you are well within normal return processes at the store.

The only thing you can do is take it to the store or call Samsung to see what your options are. Sorry it happened though.

Tell them at the store you're going to go Crackerjack on them if they don't do something.

I was going to have them send me another phone but the guy warned me that if they did and decided it wasn't covered they would charge me $699 for the phone. I know the phone hasn't been neglected, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to take the chance

You could try a case to cover it. A cover would be cheaper than full replacement cost especially if the function is not an issue.

I am definitely considering that. I am a little concerned is it going to get worse or cause problems later. The phone is only 6 days old

Take it back and exchange it for a new one with no crack if it is only 6 days old. Where did you purchase it at?

If it was received defective then you can tell Verizon.

On my note 3 order, it came with a box but no phone. At the end of the day Verizon refunded the charge and reset my upgrade
