You can archive/save threads with VZW messages. The best option (and I think only app that allows) is SMS over wifi. When I'm at the gym in the basement there is no service. I put on airplane mode, turn on wifi and text away! Works like a champ! I don't believe there are any spam options though. Other than that, it does everything.

Yeah others won't work like this for true SMS messages because they go through the cell signal.

The only others that can text via wifi are T-Mobile and Sprint users due to WiFi calling.

I have been using the default msg app because I do not like ads and in-ap-purchases, etc... I have a couple questions after reading these posts.

1 - What are the in app purchases in CompSMS and Textra?
2 - Are there options for both of these apps to remove the ads (I searched for Textra Pro and didn't find anything)?

    TIA
    - Bob

I can't remember, but I think the full version of Textra was 1.99. Well worth it imo.

If you download the free version you get 2 weeks (I think) of all features, no ads. Then Textra will send a text saying your trial is up and offer the full version without ads. Tap on the link and it redirects to the Play Store.

Hmmm I just learned Google Messenger has quick reply ... I may have to give that a try. I would be shocked if it could take me away from ChompSMS (I have used that for years).
I'm not seeing that? Where is it in settings?

This is true. I've had Textra and SwiftKey glitch on each other a couple of times.

I'm thinking of trying some of these. Does Google messenger have any issues with SwiftKey? Getting a notification for my last message with the stock messages app is beginning to bug me

I love textra. They have a lot of cool features and the developer always updating addl ones. One of my fav is the one that lets you cancel before it sens in case there was a mistake another fav is scheduling a text.

I am using Google messenger, I have a glitchy problem. When I leave the App to do something else, when I return the App has changed conversations on me. This happens all the time and is annoying. I did not have this problem with the Stock App and was hoping that an update would fix it. Yet no update has fixed my issue.

It does not sound like anyone else is have this issue. Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall?

Do you mean the order of the conversation list or you're now in another conversation when you left in another one?

For Sure I'm in another conversation lots of times. I do not see the list changing just in another conversation, sometimes old conversations in the list.

    Thanks for the reply!

Wow that is odd lol. I haven't run into that yet. A reinstall or cache wipe may help.

I've recently jumped from stock to try Google messenger. We will see how well I like it. Textra is a no go for me. I do like the fact even being on At&t we can use the VZW+ messaging app. I liked it while using my girlfriends turbo the other day.
