I have to say that the GS6 running 5.1.1 is performing really well. Just one of the improvements I've noticed right away is the performance of the fingerprint scanner. It's spot on 99.99999% of the time, and lightning fast.

Since the Note 5 ships with 5.1 and runs the same engine as the GS6 I can see why there are so many happy [actual] Note 5 users out there as well.

Good to know I'm not the only one thinking that the update has improved the user experience. It's a lot smoother now. My battery seems to be a little better also.

This is great to hear. I need more people to confirm this.

My Edge is definitely smoother and more stable - haven't needed to reset it since the update. And memory management is great. But battery life on wifi is worse. Same as it was on LTE, which was always pretty good for me. Sometimes on wifi it's great, other times its terrible.

The one bad thing I've started experiencing on 5.1.1 is my phone reads 98% when I take it off the charger. This never happened on 5.0.2

Geesh….I'm still using an S6 Edge version 5.0.2 LOL (Checked today - No software update - thanks AT & T!)

Lesson learned. I don't think I will ever buy an android phone under AT&T.

I know..... I left att for T-Mobile when the s6 came out. Coverage is outstanding with the 700 MHz and band 12 ph.
Been awesome. Less bloat, no branding on the devices, settings menus not changed, and have had 2-3 updates.

Loving this phone Un hacked and completely stock. So much so that I bought the gear s watch and ditched my new Sunnto ABC watch.

I can't give you a solid technical answer. I can say however, that my GS5 did that a couple of times and corrected itself. I chalked it up to the battery being fully charged so the charger stopped charging until the battery level dropped enough to trigger the charge again.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yep. My international gs6 can now multitask between the latest 5 (sometimes 6) apps without lag or refreshing. And the fingerprint scanner is really reliable now.

To say it's annoying is an understatement. I change my phone to get to 100% not 98%

The standby time is so much better. Before the update I would leave my phone off the charger overnight and I'd wake up with it 20-25% lower battery. Last night it dropped only 2%. 2. Fricken. Percent.

I can now finally reccomend this phone as long as its running this latest update.

I've gone from totally hating my phone (my OG Moto G performed better than this) to loving it the last two days.

I find the performance is better overall, originally it was draining battery faster buy the last 2 days its back to the way it was...so I'm pleased.

I think they more 5.1 gets populated to the GS6 the more users will finally understand how it really can be considered smaller brother to the Note 5. Yes the Note 5 has just one or two software features that work with the spen, but the GS6 kicks
    A S S in it's own right.

Is multitasking between 5-6 apps supposed to be good? With 3 gigs of ram these phones can handle much more than that.

I hardly close apps in multitasking, usually have around 15 to 20 open at once with zero lag.

After the 5th or 6th, the screen will refresh but still takes you to where you left.
I agree that with 3gb ram, it should be better. Nonetheless way better than before.

He's not talking lag. He's talking about multitasking performance with 3GB of ram. Yeah, i can have 20 apps open too. But if i go to say, the 7th app the screen refreshes. Sometimes it saved where i left off but mostly it refreshes losing what was there.

This phone, whether it's Samsungs or Google's fault shouldn't do that. Especially if after only a few minutes.

Oh, but I thought that behavior was standard for Android...which phones actually keep the apps active and running?
