How to disable sound/notification recieving emails?

Hi

I've have really tried to disable getting a notfication when recieving an email (gmail account) on my s6. Eventhough I've tried to turn the sound off in settings and anything else I could think of, I'm still getting the same sound notification as recieving a text message. Anyone else with the same problem/solution?

Welcome to Android Central! If you're talking about the stock Email app, open it, tap Menu>Settings, select the Gmail account, and look for the notification settings. Turn them off for that account, or change the tone to Silent.

I am still having the same issue and the above hasn't helped.

I am using the gmail app and turned off ALL of the notifications settings for sound and it still pings me EVERY time I get an email.

Help please

I've disabled Google mail and simply use the stock app

This way I can add all the various accounts

Also I like to see the number of emails in my inbox display attached to the icon

Also I can set a default account and set various alerts...

Thank you have trashed Gmail and using stock email program and we will see how it works.

Tried installing the wav file but I couldn't get it to work the phone just didn't recognise it as a notification file. 😕
