Email Notification persists after email is read

Using stock email app for outlook 365 account. The only way to get the email icon to clear from the notification bar is to swipe down and hit clear. Opening the email app and reading all unread emails does not clear the notification bar. This is dumb.

Additionally, sent emails result in the email notification in the notification bar. I recall having this issue with my S4 years ago, but don't recall how it was resolved.

Suggestions appreciated!

i always had weird issues with 365... never worked right so i stopped using it
have you tried a different email app?

I'm using the stock app. The email account is outlook.office.365.

try a different email app and see if it works. are you using a third party launcher?
