Unable to text to certain #'s

I have a few contacts that I am unable to text to, they are not actually people but things like my bank where I need to be able to send back a verification code. I used to be able to but now when I try it says "failed text message". I have checked every setting I can think of, they're not on any spam or blocked list and I used to be able to reply to things. Any suggestions? I contacted my carrier but they couldn't help me, said nothing was wrong with my account.

Contact your carrier and inquire about short code messaging.
If your able to text people, but not businesses that use the short codes, then you may have that blocked on your account.
I know you recently contacted them but this time you have something more specific to trouble shoot with.
