I have a Galaxy S6 and had to do a factory data reset. Now, IMDB is not in the Apps tray, but when I try to install it, it shows as already being installed. How can I get it to show up on the Apps tray?

Go to Settings -> Apps and see if it is listed there. If it is, tap it and then tap Uninstall.

Now, reinstall from the Play store.

If I try to uninstall IMDB, the only options are
    • Force Stop
    • Uninstall Updates
    • Disable

Oh! Was IMDB installed on your phone by Samsung or your carrier? Strange...

You can try uninstalling updates and then visiting the play store to force an update. That might bring your app icon back.

Other than that, I am at a loss.

I believe I installed it when I had an S4. I have tried uninstalling the updates and then disabling, to no avail. BTW, when I press "Disable," a dialog box tells me that "disabling built-in apps may cause errors in other apps."

The only thing I can figure is that IMDB (or its parent Amazon) paid to have it built-in, and that the new phone got confused with a user-installed IMDB and a "built-in" IMDB.

    Thanks for everyone's help.

IMDB is in a folder labeled Amazon on the first page of my App Tray. Try looking there. It came pre-installed this way by Verizon.

Interesting! Folders in the app tray?? Must be a Samsung (Touchwiz?) thing; you can't do that in stock Marshmallow as on the Google Nexus 6P or Nexus 5.
