My phone normally has a fingerprint lock. Once, I restarted my phone and after a restart it says I need to use the password to protect my fingerprint. Problem is I don't know my backup password. I thought after 20 tries it'd ask for my google account as usual but that did not happen. Now my unlock attempts are getting disabled for an hour. I tried Samsung Find My Mobile but I never connected my phone to it. Is there any other way to get into my phone without a factory/hard reset.

I'm afraid not. A Full Factory Reset is your only option. Sorry!

Do you know why the sudden change? I know before it would ask me for my google account credentials. I've never had it be disabled for more than 30 seconds before.

also is there a way to move/backup my files now, without my password? I'd like to save pictures before a hard reset

If the phone cannot be recognized by your pc, to access your photos, then I'm afraid there's no way to get them off.

I'm not sure of why this occurred, many things could have happened. Did you perhaps activate Android Device Manager?
