Hello. Any help or advice would be appreciated. My galaxy s6 battery takes a lifetime to charge. It drains really quickly also, 76% to 1% in 30 minutes today. Weird thing is it doesn't shut down and just stays at 1% which to me sounds like a software issue rather than a dodgy battery. This has only occurred recently, maybe a coincidence but had connected the phone to a Gear VR and also tried it on my sons generic wireless charger. Could this have affected the software. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! Try recalibrating the battery sensor by charging up to 100%, then using it normally until it shuts off automatically from low battery. Charge back up to 100%, and see if the behavior persists. If it does, do this cycle 2-3 more times, and see if that helps.
