Anyone get an update to the always on display? Was up at 6am today to see it downloading and the layout had changed as well as the options. Better clock faces! Assume this is a Samsung update.

I only found it because of your post. I don't recall how many choices there were but it seems like a lot more now. I was disappointed my blue circle dial was not shown but after bumbling through the menu I found the color and background choices. I changed it to orange and added a background color. I don't remember seeing any of those choices before. Could be a few more color choices but overall a nice update for my use. Thanks for the heads up.

I read somewhere this morning that it's a result of the Note 7 debacle. Samsung is trying to pass on some of it's features to the rest of the Galaxy line to appease those that opted to take one of the other Galaxy phones as a Note replacement.

Well, the Galaxy S7 Active has Always On Display by default - it was the first Galaxy device to have that actually, the Note 7 came out after the GS7A did and has it but the Active had it first.

And yes, what Samsung is attempting to do is backport some of the features of the Active and the Note 7 like Always On Display to the S7 and S7 Edge so people with the Note 7 that are still holding on to them and not returning them as they should do now have at least a little more incentive to do so and get some of that Note 7 functionality as part of the return/exchange process if they do decide to get another device in exchange and not just a full refund.

It's a good thing, Samsung at least is trying to give people options but many people simply refuse to return their Note 7 devices, sadly.

Err, I don't think anyone disputed the Active came out first with Always On.

+1. That's where I found it. Was surprised there's not an "auto update" setting like on all the Sammy TV's and Bluray players.

It evidently did so for mine. Does seem to occur randomly, though.

When mine updated it came from the Galaxy Apps store by Samsung, not the traditional software update buried in the Settings. In fact, I've made multiple attempts to update (to get the latest security patches, etc) and so far I'm still using the August security patches as it always tells me "Your device is up to date" which it obviously isn't.

If I get them, so be it, if not I'll survive.

Yes, you're right. It shouldve come from Samsung. You made me think to check my security patches since this is a "new" Active I've got. Glad I did. Mine were from July 1. But...it is downloading an update now that I checked.
