Google Issues? Gmail & Hangouts

Is anyone else having issues with push from Gmail and Hangouts?

This has been sluggish since I got the phone on Tuesday. To make sure it wasn't some setting, I went in and turned off the optimize setting for both of them. I also checked every setting I could find to make sure they weren't being blocked or delayed.

Messages will hit my PC and then show up on my phone quite a bit later. Almost as though it waits until I wake my phone. And Gmail... forget about it. I had no mail notifications when I woke up this morning, which is really odd. A couple mins later, I had a list of like 19 pop up from all hours of the night.

I'm coming from LG. I've used the G2, G3, and G4. All with no issues what-so-ever with such. Is this a recent google thing or a phone thing?

I don't think its a phone thing. I've noticed something similar just this morning with Gmail, but I'm also seeing lots of Play store updates that I assume are tied to both Marshmallow and the S7. I'd let it gel out for a week or so to see if everything settles down.
