I like to set up DND on all my phones and I can't find a way to disable the LED during this time. That blue LED is crazy annoying at night in a dark room. It's my first Samsung phone, so I'm a little lost.

Maybe when I get a case for it, but then that kind of defeats the purpose of having the clock showing for me.
Its very dim and not distracting, but the blue LED...ouch.

I agree that Tasker is the way to go, if you want this.

I know HUH!! I was so happy about the always on display thingie, used it last night (with the DND on) and the blasted blue light was on all night. Back to "My Alarm Clock" app. I googled this when I first got my Note 5, coming from iPhone/bb and it's been a complaint for a while.

So that's my ONE complaint for this phone LOL...minor....

Yea I know that, but that was not the question. Well maybe it was. I guess I should have to said to "auto disable".

If you want the phone to display a clock at night, but want DND otherwise, can't you just place the phone on it's face as previously noted and turn on Edge clock display? I haven't messed with the Edge stuff that much, but remember seeing the clock display available.

If you don't mind, I'm terrible with Tasker, but can you explain a little more what you did to get it to work?

This is horrible, using third party apps just to disable this while on DND is bad lol. These other apps have a million other options and LED colors that i'm just not interested in. Tasker seems to be a paid for app but im not that eager to get rid of the LED. Hopefully something oem comes along to allow this exception.

Edit- I even tried to create a setting(activity) shortcut using Nova launcer to have a toggle for the LED indicator around the home screen but no luck.

Lightflow will let you disable the LED while the phone is in DND, I believe.

I'm having this same problem. I just upgraded from the S5 and the LED was completely disabled during DND on that phone. This missing feature is disappointing to say the least.

Lightflow created other issues for me, but I've found a tasker plug in that works, for those who have managed to figure out tasker. The built-in Tasker control to turn the LED on and off doesn't work, but this plugin does:

What's just as bad is the blue LED light on the Samsung rapid charger. It's just as bright at night. Had to put a piece of black electrical tape over the LED on the charger.

For those of us who aren't familiar with tasker, can you give us a quick guide on running the plugin, or point us to a link? Thanks.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a quick guide to Tasker. It's almost like learning how to program. It's complicated, but if you work at it suddenly it will start to make sense, and then it's a very powerful tool for automating all kinds of things.

I'd take a look here: Tasker for Android
    and here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comm...ide_for_noobs/
and maybe some of these links: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...asker+tutorial

It's not hard, it's just a steep learning curve.

OK here's what I came up with to disable the LED light. I set it up to turn off when the phone is on the wireless charger.

    Prerequisites:
    Tasker ($2.99):
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ndroid.taskerm

    Samsung LED Controller Plugin (Free):
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...3ledcontroller

    Profile > + > State > Power > Power
Source: Any, AC, USB, Wireless, Other (I chose wireless)

New Task > + > Name it (Optional; I named the first one LEDoff)
    + > Plugin> Galaxy S3 LED Controller
    Configuration (Select the Pencil)
    Everything should be off
    Check mark

    Backout to Profiles tab
    Long press LED Controller
    Add Exit Task
    New Task +
Name it (Optional; I named the second one LEDon)
    + > Plugin> Galaxy S3 LED Controller
    Configuration (Select the Pencil)
Everything should be on except blocking mode and power saving mode
    Check mark
