I got the security update from tmobile yesterday. I have the s7 edge. I am noticing a huge drop in battery performance! Until the update my battery lasted all day 7 a.m. Thru to 11 p.m. or longer. Since update it is now down to 34% at 3:30 p.m. What the heck?! Anyone else notice battery drain with the security update?

If anything mine has gotten better. I am at 24 hours, with nearly 4 hours SOT and 23% battery left.

I did the cache wipe. Time will tell now. BTW how will that help?

The system cache partition holds temporary system data. Sometimes, after a system update, the older temporary data in the cache partition can cause some conflicts or performance degradation, so wiping it can help. I don't know the intricate technical details--all I know is that sometimes it helps!:)

Battery life has been the same for me, I was off charger yesterday around 8am until 1am, and I still had 2 hours left before I hit 0.

After my update I went to bed at 100% which was around 1:30am it so and woke up this morning around 8:30am at 85% I think. I'm guessing the drain was due to optimizing the apps after the update. Will find out during the day how much this drains or remains the same.

I did the cache wipe and my battery is still draining fast! I unplugged it from the charger at 7:45 this morning it is now 12:00 in the afternoon and I have 58% left! I bought my phone on the 12th the battery has been amazing until Friday when the software update came thru. Help! What else can I try?

Not having any issues on my T-Mobile version as well, both before and after update its been same. If all else fails try reset, did you see if any particular app is using more time? Do you have always on display? If yes turn that off and see.

I took it into tmobile they did all the checks. Since I'm within the 14 day return period and within the 12 day buyers remorse period they are exchanging the phone. The catch is there are no gold or any other color edges in our area! So a new phone is being sent BUT the edges are on back order. So it will take 2-3 weeks. :/

Ok, let's take a closer look at your battery stats. Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

Here is the screenshots I have. The battery did a bit better today but nothing like before the update. My daughter has the same phone purchased at the same time as well. She is a heavy user. She currently had 65% unplugged from charger at 5 this morning her screen time is a bit less then mine.

Given your total screen-on time so far on this charge, I'd say your battery life looks relatively normal, since you're on track for 6 hrs of total screen-on time. I wonder how accurate your daughter's battery stats are, or perhaps she partially charged up midway through, because if she truly is down to a battery level of 65% with let's say 4 hrs of screen on time, that means she's on track for more than 10 hours of screen on time, which is unheard of (unless she's rooted and running a custom ROM).

It would also be helpful to see your cell signal strength. If the system menu doesn't show it (usually if you tap the battery graph to make it fullscreen), then you can install GSam Battery Monitor or something similar to see it. Poor cell signal can drain battery (and you can still have poor signal but 0% Time Without Signal).

Tmobile sent me a replacement. I'm using it now. Something had to be wrong with the battery. I was having less battery time on my s7 edge then I did with my s6 edge. That's not normal. The new one I have now has been amazing! Exactly like the one that was replaced before the update. Not sure if the update caused the problem or what. But I am happy now. I wasn't hallucinating the s7 battery performance decline.
