Left my S7 Edge (UK version) on charge overnight....woke up to find it cracked. No, it hasn't been dropped etc., it's a brand new phone. Samsung customer service not interested as it's "physical damage" and want me to pay for repair!!!.... 20160327_225313_resized.jpg20160327_225419_resized.jpg

Thats messed up Samsung should make good with that. It must have been the heat, curious did it come from the outside cold into heat? Was the phone really hot when touched it?

I know the Nexus 6P had some reports of the glass cracking where the camera is.

I know the back of the phone gets pretty hot if rapid charging. I don't think that would cause the glass to crack though.

Yeah, that's a drop. Was someone else there that could have dropped it and then put it back? Because that's not spontaneous.

It looks like you have hardwood floors. A drop from that table, hitting the floor on that corner could cause the glass to break. Looks like that is what happened. You sure you didn't knock if off the table while you were sleeping, and half awake put it back, thus not remembering it happened?

Samsung does have the right to deny claims. The break point doesn't look like it was caused by heat. There are far too many cracks.

I don't disagree that the op woke up with it cracked, nor do I disagree with the fact that the op didn't drop it...

It is possible that someone else in the house (or perhaps a burglar) played with it and dropped it.

You say it was charging overnight but I am only seeing 66%. Was it on wired or wireless? If on wireless it could have possibly vibrated off the table or something (depending on the type of wireless pad).

but if it did, then he should have seen it fall to the ground - unless someone else in the house found it on the ground and put it back on the table.

also, the damage isn't near the wireless coil or near the battery, or near the cpu...so it isn't really a overheat situation.

No way from charging, if anything the battery is in the back and the back would be damaged, not a corner of the phonoe. Most likely from a drop.
