This is not totally true, I have noticed while putting my phone down in the truck it counts even bumps in the road as a step.
For you, for me, it's more accurate than the watches for the reasons posted in previous post.

I've had two phones plus a Gear S watch on me at the same time and all three would display completely different step counts. The difference would easily be as much as 1,000 steps. It didn't matter what phones I had, even if I had my two S7 Edge phones with me, they would always show differences.

There are times when I come home and my Note 4 will show 100 or so steps and it stayed home. I never take that phone with me anymore although I have one of my activated sims in it.

I believe I read somewhere where Samsung said it would never be accurate but a general accounting of steps walked. I too have noticed it will count bumps in the car as steps.

I use SHealth for Step Counting. When I start my exercise(Walking) I made it On. Once I complete my walk I made it off (Pause counting steps) .It gives accurate value when in Pant pocket or holding in hand. If we don't pause the count it calculates steps every where (driving ,shaking ....)

I disabled it on day 1 as I assumed it would use heaps of battery on me. I might enable it again if I ever buy a Gear.

I recently got a used in good condition sm-n920w8 & yeah its step tracking is unbelivable compared to say pokèwalker, n3ds, lumia icon was wondering if snapdragon(sensor engine) based samsung devices have higher accuracy then exynos when it comes to this or did they not bother to add qc's api to s health on those devices

The app isn't going to give you any more walking time because you did weights. The app works off GPS and so it will only accurately give you data for moving distance in kilometers or miles. It's not a miracle app to track everything you do. It's a basic tool to assist in a healthy lifestyle. If you don't like it, find an alternative.
My gym machines record everything you do. Each member has a data card and you slot it in every machine before you use it. Records everything you did and then emails a report to you

Calories burned and Calories eaten are both recorded in the S Health app, but they are not easily readable "side by side" or "day by day." You have to flip a couple of pages and view them separately. Is this intentional? Maybe most folks don't want to easily see "calories in/calories out" listed next to each other on the same page.

I use it with my Gear S3 Frontier but it is not accurate on floors. I also use a Fitbit One and both are different with steps and floors and it does not integrate with MyFitnessPal. It needs work but could be very useful.

I use my Gear Fit2 and sync it with S Health. Both the phone and Gear Fit2 are somewhat inaccurate by themselves, so when I need a reading, I take an average between the two devices and that's the true reading, I think.

I went for a small 2 mile jog today - S-Health thought I was walking. No way to change it. Maybe I jog too slow.

Use it only for step counts, it does miss some but overall i think it's accurate.
