I just used my new VR gear, the picture quality is mediocre. I was expecting a very clean experience but seems the S7 edge display cannot reproduce the content or the content is not a typical HD quality. It constantly reminds the user that you are using VR and not direct video quality. I would have expected a seamless experience.

This is a first series of mobile VR and entry level ... you would be looking at the next 3 to 5 yrs maybe if VR kicks off to get a better experience with more content available. Technology never gives you everything at Once :) .

My main issue is the build quality.... best use is for Netflix in bed :)

Yet to use Netflix, just downloaded the app. Will try it this weekend. The image seems pixelated a bit may be they should have given a better filter on the lenses.

If you think about the amount of pixels each lense covers/uses and how close your eyes and the lenses are to the screen it's not surprising that Gear VR is pixelated.

Each eye is seeing far less than half of the Galaxy S7's screen...

I tried using Netflix in bed (back in December) and couldn't figure out how to make it work. When I laid down, I could hear the movie, but only saw the virtual theater's ceiling :)
I'll have to try it again and see if that's been addressed, or if I can figure it out.

You'll have to start the VR experience after you're in your required viewing position.

I only used mine once since getting it two weeks ago. Not sure if this is something I'll use again. It was a nice experience but and I won't be selling my Gear VR. I may use it again someday soon.

It's a bit of a gimmick but I'll take it for a spin again one day.

Galaxy s7 edge overheated when usung the VR. Color began bleeding, leaving color trails from apps. The phone was barely a month and days old. I am so mad with the picture quality. ( i even open a pornhub account...bummer). Hahahaha.

Can't wait to see what the next generation will be like. This is an interesting start , if not fully compelling yet.

As for heat issues, it definitely does limit your time with it. Samsung is going to need a double cooling system with their next generation of phones.

Too be more accurate, your basically looking through a microscope at a portion of the screen, so the pixels are blown way up, which unfortunately blows up the miniscule spaces between the pixels.

I rather enjoyed one of the free games, Dead Secret. I played it for about 30 minutes and liked investigating the house. Moving about the rooms made me off balance a bit but it was fun. I felt like I was right there snooping in someone's house. We also tried a couple of the roller coaster clips and they will make you dizzy in a flash. Looking at the images of the different cities of the world was fascinating, especially the one of Egypt.

No, it isn't perfect but it is entertaining....and free! :)

Yeah I was actually surprised by how much I liked it, sure the resolution isn't quite there yet but it's a phone hooked up to a $99 headset... It's better than I thought it would be and it actually feels to me anyway like watching a movie in a theater... The VR is surprisingly convincing tried to put my arm down on a armrest in the VR theater even (how's that for sad) try setting a bowl of popcorn where it sits on the moon theater... That kinda plays tricks on the brain... Sure it's not perfect but I think it has definitely opened the door for vr in the mainstream, it will only get better. And I'm not sure if I'm lucky or what but my s7 edge didn't suffer from any overheating issues... Played around for like an hour and then watched a full 2 hour movie with Bluetooth headphones on with zero issues...

We tried it and thought it was neat but wouldn't use it. A co-worker of mine bought both of ours one for him and his brother wanted the other one. That is how I got the expensive S Flip Cover Case from selling my gear. LOL! But I liked it ok.

Not sure what some of you are expecting, because I am totally Blown Away by the VR headset. To me, even with a slight screen door effect, I feel like I am right there in the midst of things. I got got the chance to use my headset the other night to watch the NCAA tournament , and I wasn't watching it on TV. I was at the game, at Courtside watching it. It was amazing. Likewise, one time I was describing for a friend what Old Faithful at Yellowstone Park looks like. I was describing how high it was up over you and what it sounds like. And then I had to remind myself, I have never actually been there, but I had in my mind the distinct memory of what Old Faithful is like when you're actually standing there. And that's because I watched it through my VR headset.

I am impressed. First gen and free especially. Only complaint is the edges of focus will never be perfect and it gets the phone really hot to the point it shuts down.

which leaves the question as to why samsung didnt copy sony and make a 4K screen that is on at certain times. This would have made the VR a more viable option to compete with sony, htc, rift. Now its at the bottom of the bucket. with no future..

Oh you mean those headsets that force me to be Tethered to a computer or gaming system out in the living room with the family all looking at me weird, as opposed to being able to take my phone and headset anywhere I want? Yeah can't compete with those beauties.
