S7 Edge Android Auto (navigation)

I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Android Auto.
When I plug the Edge in, and try and use navigation, after a few minutes, the Android Auto screen goes back to default, and error messages flash on the android auto display saying the phone isn't responding. Everything else works, just not the Nav. If the navigation is started on the phone before activating android auto, it will last longer before the error happens.
Anyone else have this issue?

Are you using a good quality cable? I've been using android auto on my 2015 Sonata Eco with 3 different phones (GS6E, GS7E, Nexus 5x) & have never had any issues.

Yes. I'm using every cable I have, including the one that came with the phone. My s5 worked great, even tried my wife's s6, no problems there. I also tried messing with the lock screen settings, no help there either.
