I can't set custom sounds for Notifications

I put a few ringtones on my phone, which show up when I try and change the ringtone, but when I go into notifications, they do not even show up on the list. I put them in my ringtones folder via file explorer on win10. When I first got the phone this worked fine and I set a custom tone no problem. I decided to look at the setting today for the first time since setting it over a month ago, only to find the notification tone changed to something else and none of my custom sounds showing up on the drop down list. I'm specifically trying to set a custom ringtone for messages. The only sounds that show up in the dropdown menu are the stock sounds. Like I said, they show up in ringtones for when people call me though... How do I fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! If you want them to show up as a notification option, make sure the sound file is saved to the Notifications directory (not the Ringtones).
