How can I stop my home screen icons from changing?

Home screen icons keep changing

I have a galaxy s7 edge and this is my fourth galaxy. I have loved all of them, EXCEPT that my home screen icons have a way of changing order or disappearing altogether without my doing anything. Sometimes my wallpaper disappears also. VERY ANNOYING!!! Any solutions??

Are you using any apps on SD card? If the card is removed, fails, or has issues, those apps (and their icons) could be moved/changed/removed. Same thing if that's where you keep your wallpaper.

Other than that, all I can think of is accidental presses while the phone is in your pocket maybe? I'd try turning on the option to keep screen off in dark places. I haven't had any issues with any of my phones (also a long-time Galaxy user) with that.

Are you using the stock launcher or another one?
