Try turning on uhq upscaler. It's in the sound quality and effect tab in you settings. Do you only get the noise when charging your phone while playing music? I'm also guessing that your using an AUX cable. The sound shouldn't be there with Bluetooth.

The uhq is on. It has that sound whether I'm charging or not.
Tomorrow, I'll give it a try on Bluetooth. Thanks for the suggestions & I'll let you know if using Bluetooth works out.

Yes. This phone has the worst audio of any phone I've tried since 2008. The 820 DAC isn't great, and it appears that Samsung did nothing to lessen any electrical noise from the rest of the components on the mainboard. In fact, the bad audio gets worse when the CPU is under load. This is based on personal experience as well as hooking the phone up to audio testing equipment.

The best thing you can do is to get a pair of bluetooth headphones that support Apt X and cut out the digital conversion on the phone itself.
Well I must have gotten a really good one then, because mine doesn't sound that bad. Mine doesn't cut out or have static, nor does it stutter... granted the speaker sounds tinny but with my wired ear buds and Bluetooth buds along with PowerAmp it actually sounds pretty good. Maybe I am just lucky....

Coming from BlackBerry Passport, S7 Edge 's audio is a huge disappointment... but the apps, screen, speed and battery life are nice upgrades.

I use Sony MDR XB500's and the sound quality on my new S7 is terrible. If you've never used proper headphones (only earbuds) you might find it accetable. However w/ all the bells/whistles on this ***** you'd a thought they'd put better sound processors in them.

I am using the "adapt sound" feature under "sound quality and effects" in the "sounds and vibration" section of the sounds setting. With the adjustments available for my individual hearing, using a good set of headphones playing Spotify, I get excellent results.

I've found the opposite; the sound is fantastic from my experience.
Setting up Adapt Sound properly is a must since the standard, unaltered sound is undoubtedly awful. But with Adapt Sound and Tube Amp settings on its better than a lot of phones on the market.
Though stay away from the UHQ upscaler if you have high end headphones because all its done for me is introduced a small, irritating crackle with no noticeable increase in sound quality. And stay away from "surround," again all its done is introduce more crackles and muddy ALL sound to an unlistenable standard. Concert Hall setting is nice for acoustic music, I've found, or if reverb is just your thing then no harm done to sound quality there

I encountered the same issues as you did, with headphones having impedance ratings higher than 30 Ohms.
The shortcomings glare even worse with Equalizer utilities/apse.
It turns out that the DAC ( DIGITAL ANALOG CONVERTER) on the S7 is actually pretty good. BUT the amplifier section is weak.
You can solve the problem with a portable headphone amplifier.
I use the Fiio E12 Mont Blanc amp and I couldn't be happier. That combination will BLOW AWAY ANYTHING offered by ANY stand alone smartphone.
I listen with Audiotechnica ATH 700 open backed headphones, Audiotechnica M50 closed back headphones and Sennheiser 700 open back headphones. I get 8-12 hours of amplifier time per charge, depending on what I'm listening to, volume levels, which headphones I use and how much bass I've got jacked up through the eq settings.

My S7e sounds quite good to me, I even started a thread about it. I'm no sound engineer but I am an audiophile. With the UHQ upscaler enabled the sound out of MY S7e is quite engaging and pleasant. No, not as nice as my Cambridge Audio DACs and Burson Audio headphone amps but still quite pleasant. My Grado GS2000e, AKG K712, and Senn HD595 sound better than expected and my lowly Bose QC25s sound downright good with excellent slam and clarity.

Audio is such a subjective thing. OP, I'm sorry you're not happy with the sound of the S7e. I can tell you that my LG V20s and V10 sounds really good to me too. If you haven't, you should take a listen, if you have the opportunity.

I like the sound from my S7 Edge. I use the following for listening:

    Audio-Technica ATH-M50x monitor headphones
    Bose QuietComfort 15 headphones
JayBird BlueBuds X Sport Bluetooth earbuds

I use PowerAmp and the Note 4 was my previous phone.

I agree. The v20 has a lot better audio than my S7 Edge, however I miss the AMOLED screen on my S7 edge since I use v20 as my daily driver right now. I've thought about switching to the S7 edge again for awhile. Why is it these phones can't have it all? V20 has flat screen great audio but not the best screen quality like the Galaxy S7 edge. The S7 edge has crappy audio and a beautiful display but has the big curves.

The iPhone is using stereo speakers (unless you mean the iPhone 7) so yes it will be better. But then, the Samsung speakers were never really that good. It's the usual complaint reviewers have with their phones.

How do you enable the upscaler? Mine is greyed out and it won't let me turn it on. I did set up the adaptive sound though and it made a huge difference as well.

That just means the Bluetooth on your LG is not UHQ compliant. The ones on Samsung Level bluetooth headsets are UHQ compliant and reviewers say the music quality difference is quite significant. I'm using wired ones (Coloud No. 4) and it's really quite noticeable when you have UHQ on or off.
