I was curious to see what my battery life would be like on wifi today and wow was I blown away. I have never seen an android device last this long on one charge. Both standby and screen on times are beyond impressive. The battery life on this phone seems to be getting better the more I use the phone. I've had it for a little under two weeks so I guess that the phone really does need a few charges to reach its potential. To say I'm impressed is an understatement

looking good man. Don't let your phone battery go so low. It's not good for the charge cycle. Try charging atleast when you're around 20-30%

do you have exynos or snapdragon. also what is your most used app. I was curious to see, but i can only see till Screen..

It's a shame the difference between the American phones and everywhere else. You guys over in America should be able to enjoy this kind of screen on time too

My battery life is nowhere near what most people are reporting on this forum. I'm getting 2:30 on screen time and about 10 hours total time with average to light use.

Or Latin/South America or Canada or Asia or just a night worker in Europe or Africa. So, not really an indication of the model of phone I think, wouldn't you agree?

In those screen caps you practically have no cellular signal... barely 1/5. On Verizon, its not even worth leaving cell data turned on... unless I need to download a voice mail or (slowly) receive text message pictures. So I almost always turn off my cell data when I am under my wifi.... this is an an LG-V10, a phone not known for its battery life.

Even when I have my phone using mobile data with the weak signal I still get seven to eight hours of screen on time. I tend to do what you said when I'm using the wifi instead of the mobile data by switching off the mobile data when on wifi. My wifi is very limited because I don't have a landline Internet connection so I only get 16.5gb of wifi per month so eventually I obviously sometimes have to just stick to the mobile data. I tried it on 3G which gave multiple bars of coverage but the battery drained so fast on 3G. I was told once this is because the phone isn't made for 3G coverage so I stick to my weak 4G which still lasts forever lol

Guys, it all depends on how you're using the phone. I have the regular S7, and if you're using it to continuously navigate with GPS enabled on maximum screen brightness, you'll only get about 3-4 hours SOT. If you're using it continuously to run chess engines against each other (or other intensive gaming etc), you'll also only get about 3-4 hours SOT.

But if you're using it to watch video continuously, you'll get over 12 hours SOT easily. I'm currently playing a movie which has been running for over 2 hours, and it's only used 13% battery (no power savers enabled, WiFi is enabled etc). That's about 2 hours of SOT per 10%, which translates to about 20 hours SOT if I watched movie after movie. Now I'm watching it in the dark, so it would be a lot less SOT with maximum brightness, but I would have thought it would still be over 12 hours SOT.

So I think people really need to describe exactly what they are doing with their phones when they post battery times. But I can guarantee that those getting over 5-6 hours SOT are certainly not gaming continuously for 5 hours.

Furthermore, people need to post whether they have Always On Display (AOD) enabled or not. This will give a good reflection of standby times. With AOD disabled, I'm only noticing about 3% drain per eight hours (or about total 0.4% drain per hour). With AOD enabled, I'm noticing double that drain, or about 0.8% per hour. Not huge differences, but it adds up significantly over a day or so. For example, over 24 hours, standby drain would only be about 10% with AOD disabled. With AOD enabled, it would be 20%, which is a significant 10% difference.

Hopefully this drives home the above points - over 12 hours SOT and still 20% left:
    Battery Life Is A Beast-screenshot_20160611-203217.jpg
    Battery Life Is A Beast-screenshot_20160611-203224.jpg

Majority of use was movie watching, but also did some screen mirroring with a big screen TV, several shots with the camera, a few short video recordings, and brief periods of on-demand Wi-Fi surfing. AOD enabled the entire time. GPS and Mobile data disabled the entire time. No gaming.

And this is with the regular S7 (Exynos of course). With the S7 Edge, I'd expect to still be around 25-30% left. And if I was using Flight mode, it'd probably be even better.

Ultimate point is that posting a screenshot of your SOT without describing what you're doing with the phone is relatively meaningless. I mean, I could probably get 40+ hours SOT by having a black screen on all the time with Flight mode enabled. But I'd probably get less than 2 hours SOT if I had GPS enabled and continuously navigating with maximum screen brightness, while also continuously running chess engines in the background at the same time.

So why then is it that with watching vids you get way more than gaming.... What is the reasoning for this?

I just got my S7 edge a few days ago and I am very disappointed in the battery life. I can't even get through an 8 hour day at work.... And I'm barely using the phone because Internet is non existent while in the building. So I only use it whole on break or lunch or if I skip away to get a raid in on clash of clans... What gives?
