Messenger apps, notifications.

I'm posting here incase it's something device specific. Anyway.

I've used the Samsung Messages app and now Googles' messenger app. Neither provide a notification beep of sorts if a message is received while screen and app is lit. Is there any app that does? The reason why is while I work I text for support questions. Sometimes the answers come back within 30 seconds. So if I set the phone aside while I work, screen lit app open. No beep, no light. Nothing. If a reply is sent.

Yes theirs the obvious solutions: close the app, tap the power button etc. But I feel like I shouldn't have to.

But is there a messenger app that does?

I tried Google Messenger and it still rang for me. Alternatively you might try Lightflow to control notifications instead of the one built in the app.
