Hi Androidcentral, I'm new so please be nice!

I've had my S7 Edge for a few months now with no problems, but recently I've been having multiple problems at once. First is what the title says - it first happened when Spotify couldn't detect my SD card, and the photos in my SD card were all broken. When I plugged it into my PC to check for errors, it said the card was corrupted, so I replaced it with a Kingston 64 gb.

It's only been less than a week since, but every other day the photos in my gallery become unreadable. Restarting my phone helps, but only temporarily, about a day or so. Since it's a new card, I think the problem is with the phone. I can't go to Samsung for help because I didn't buy my phone in the UK, so what should I do?

I really don't want to do a factory reset, since all my data would disappear...

What brand is the new card? Also, before putting anything on the card, did you format it in the phone?

The new card is a Kingston 64 GB card. I did format it before using it.

I just did a factory reset, and formatted it again. The problem persisted through the reset, as my photos don't save and mostly show up as corrupted. This is becoming very frustrating, but I can't get it fixed where I live currently because I bought my device in another country.

I had the same issue with a 64 GB Sandisk SD card. I fixed it on a computer by running a chkdsk and put it back in the phone and transferred all my photos and videos back to the phone memory and then formatted the card in the phone and less than a week later it was corrupt again. I bought a Samsung 64 GB card on sale and put it in the phone and formatted it and it seems to be working ok but has been a little over a week. I haven't put anything on it yet though because I am scared it is going to corrupt as well.

I should also note that when I got my new SD card it wouldn't read it at all to begin with and then finally detected that it was in the phone. So I think it is definitely an issue with the phone. I am keeping an eye on it and am going to contact Verizon again as this is now my 3rd replacement S7 Edge. I am getting to the point that I might just go back to an iPhone.

Oh I'm glad that i'm not the only one with this issue. I had a Sandisk 64 GB for about 3 months as well, but then I couldn't run the chkdsk at all, since it said the card had become corrupted beyond repair. I am thinking of sending it back to my country in order to get it fixed, but I might as well trade it in.

Galaxy S7 curupting cards again and again. Verizon sending me new phone. Obviously its the phone. I use good Samsung brand sd cards. Even tries a cheap one. So device must be to blame. At what point should I say "Verizon i want different phone?" Unacceptable with the cost of phones these days. I like samsung phones though. I'm a a long time Mac user/owner. Have windows machines but I consider myself a mac guy. Ironically I don not like IPHONES. Not better than android and samsung anyway. Suggestions on new?different phone? I will not be accepting a second replacement if it comes to that, and I have a feeling it might (hope not). Have good relationship with Verizon...15 year customer with 6 lines they do treat me right when demanded (sometimes cause they offer too). sorry so long. advice and cmments appreciated in advance.

I read this on another site while researching SD cards: The most likely cause of write abort related data corruption are unexpected power losses, and especially Flash memory does not take them very well. Neither consumer grade SSDs nor SD cards are built to maintain data integrity in an environment that is plagued with an unsteady power supply. The more often power losses occur, the higher is the chance of data corruption.

Samsung phones have historically been picky about what SD you use. I find it's best to buy genuine Samsung SD cards for the Galaxy series devices.
