Fast charging can generate heat, which is not good for batteries and can lessen their capacity over time. On a normal 1-2 year upgrade cycle the impact appears to be minimal, however for folks keeping their devices for 3-4 years that could pose a problem. At the same time, it may be at a higher heat but for far less time so the total damage could be negligible when compared to charging slower for longer.

My phone doesn't always charge fully on slow charging over night. It's like the slow charging is sometime really really slow! Not sure why. Fast charging is therefore more reliable as I know I'll get a full battery but I do try to stick with slow when I can as I expect it's better for battery health in the long run

Slow charging seems to result in better battery life. It's also better for the battery.

Use fast charging when time is of essence, otherwise switch it off.
