Samsung Galaxy s7 message+ has gray line inside the text message that says unread message

I have the Samsung Galaxy s7 and I use message+ I am getting a gray line inside the text message that says unread message everything I get a new message. It is driving me crazy. How do I make this stop. This just started about 3 days or so ago.

I think it came with the update Verizon put out a couple of days ago. I have it in mine too. It goes away once you read the message and close the app.

They have done some updates to that app as of late that don't work so well. I'm all for improvements, but this is going backwards.
