Hello, I have a brand new blue Galaxy S7 edge. Great phone but I am a little dissapointed by the camera coming from Microsoft Lumia 950. I almost cannot take a good low light photo or video if there are street lights or any other strong source of light. I always have these artifacts on my pictures. Is this normal?

I found this video from Phone Arena and my videos with street lights look exactly the same.

Welcome to Android Central! I don't have an S7 edge, but I actually don't see anything particularly unusual about those night shots. I wouldn't call that lens flare -- lens flare means streaks of light emanating from the light source, often with additional points of light apart from the source (just watch any JJ Abrams movie ). But let's see what other owners say as well ...

I usually take picture to minimize this effect. But you can see in the first picture there are some dots of the decorating lights. On the second picture you can see these dots from street lamps in the sky.

You can see the problem here. I get this effect almost every time by the strong source of light in low light.

Oh ok, I see it now. There's no protective film on the lens glass, right?

Just wipe your camera lense before you take a picture, works for me.

No protective film. And lenses are clean. I saw a few videos where you can see this. New iPhone7 does this too.

I've seen a number of posts about lens flare on S7 cameras in various other forums, so at least you're not alone.

On pocketnow in their camera review of S7 they said it's because of the wide aperture. Or it could be less quality lens or coating on them. Maybe that's why I've never seen this on Lumia smartphones since they use Carl Zeiss optics. I just want to know if it's common for all S7 phones.
