it has been always my advice to to everyone as you'll never notice the difference and it'll add extra battery life.
has anyone here been able to notice the difference?

I can't see this making much difference to battery life. Maybe if you play games a lot, it might, but in normal use, it still has to light all the non-black pixels to create the image, so if you have something of a size of 1 pixel that needs displaying, the same image at a lower resolution will take use 4 pixels (at the lower resolution), this isn't to say that a lower resolution uses more pixels and is therefore worse for the battery, because it isn't, but the difference for non-gaming use would be minimal at best.

The screen still looks vibrant and beautiful, and I seemed to have added 2 hours on screen time to my battery life. This is awesome!
Aparently, changing resolution doesn't make battery life longer. And it's a fact, BUT changing it lower than the original will boost performance especially to those apps that renders amazing graphics. If you are not a fan of high quality graphics and just wants a performance boost, changing res is a good idea.
